Building New Connections within the NEB Community
Our team was pleased to take part in the New European Bauhaus Lighthouse Cluster Meeting, held in Rotterdam on 25–26 September. This two-day event brought together NEB Lighthouse projects to reflect progress, legacy, and the exciting transition toward the next generation of NEB initiatives.
Connecting with sister projects
EU-CIRCBUILT had the pleasure of meeting one of its sister projects, BIOARC, and discovering its inspiring concept. BIOARC bridges the agricultural and construction sectors by developing high-performance, bio-based building materials made from agricultural by-products. The project focuses on creating lightweight, fire-resistant products such as insulation boards, construction panels, acoustic panels, and partition walls.
To ensure global scalability, BIOARC leverages regionally available resources like rice, wheat, sunflower, and hops. Taking a bioregional approach, the project works closely with local communities, farmers, artisans, and industries to build local value chains that lower carbon emissions and promote circular economy principles. BIOARC brings a fresh perspective and renewed energy to the future of our built environment. We also took part in enriching discussions with next-generation NEB projects such as BIOARC, SPICE, and UTOPIZE, and drew inspiration from showcases like EHHUR, NEB-STAR, DESIRE, Bauhaus of the Seas Sails, and CULTUURCAMPUS.
These exchanges embody the spirit of the New European Bauhaus—where creativity meets purpose, and innovation is rooted in community. We are excited about the partnerships taking shape and look forward to continuing this journey of co-creation and shared inspiration with BIOARC and the broader NEB community.
